You should see your dentist every six months for your regular cleaning and checkup. During a regular office visit, your dentist can spot small, or potential problems before they have a chance to become serious issues. But there are other times when you should make an appointment to see your dentist.

If you have damaged your mouth or teeth in an accident, a dentist should see you. Other reasons to contact the dentist include: pain in your teeth or mouth; red, swollen, tender or bleeding gums; gums that are receding or pulling back from your teeth; or if your teeth are loose or sensitive to heat, cold, or air. You should contact your dentist is there are sores in your mouth that are not healing. Persistent bad breath could signal an underlying problem, as could trouble swallowing

If you have noticed any of the problems mentioned above, or if you have noticed any kind of change, or something out of the ordinary with your teeth and mouth, you should call your dentist for an appointment.
