Because of advanced dentistry techniques that we use at Gentle Dental Arts, you do not need to be afraid of oral aging. Sometimes, no matter how well you take care of them, teeth eventually decay and fall out of the mouth. It is one thing that may happen with aging, but there is no need to worry about it because our office can provide you with dentures that will fully restore your smile and make it young again. There are various types of dentures, and we want to tell you about one of our favorites: implant-supported dentures.
Implant-supported dentures utilize dental implants as anchors for sets of teeth. To help you fully understand the dentures, we want to make sure you understand what dental implants are. Dental implants are bars of titanium that are inserted inserted into the jaw. The metal piece comes up through the top of the gum so it can connect to prosthetic teeth and dentures.
There are two kinds of dentures: bar-retained dentures and ball-retained dentures
— Bar-retained dentures: A metal bar follows the curve of the jaw. The bar is attached to the dental implants and the dentures are fit to the bar and secured with clips.
— Ball-retained dentures: Each dental implant is fit with ball-shaped attachments. The balls are inserted into the dentures and securely hold it in place.
Each implant-supported denture is customized to your mouth and looks and feels completely natural. If you feel like you need dentures you can schedule an appointment with our practice in Orem, Utah, by calling 801-224-1117.
